An August 2010 article lists several apps for the iPad. Some of the programs will also work on iPhones. Visual schedules, augmented communication, PECS, social stories, and the learning of emotions apps can now be found on the iPad. Costs range from $179 to free.
The iPad from Apple was released in April 2010 and features a 9.7 inch touch screen. Both wireless networks and 3G cell phone access are supported by the iPad.
To really get a good feel for the iPad, however, you'll need to find a demo model in a store. In Arkansas, Best Buy and AT&T carry iPads, and Walmart is supposed to start selling iPads by the end of the year.
The new apps are already bringing down the cost of communication devices by thousands of dollars. In this competitive market it'll be exciting to see the new products that are developed in the next few months.

Are some of these applications available on non-Apple products such as the the much cheaper Kindle? Apparently some Kindle models link to iphones.
I keep telling my husband that I would like to see how our son would respond to an iPad, but we can't afford one.
